Moved to hanmer recently. Used to go to the one in new sudbury and south end regularly. To say that I'm disappointed with this hanmer store would be a understatement. Lots of empty shelves all of the time. Independent across the street don't need to do much to compete. Done wasting my time at this empty store.

Rotten produce, good luck finding anything on sale due to empty selves. Customer service is complete garbage as well, better off shopping in independents nim bins across the road.

Have found lamb shanks over a year expired in the freezer there and have suffered some intense food poisoning from their food. We've stopped buying meat there, we kept ending up with rotting chicken openned the same day we bought it. obviously they don't take food safety very seriously. I've been throwing up for 3 days, missed work, clearly in not a happy customer.

Fast forward years later, and food basics is selling waffles that are on recall for listeria contamination. This place is downright dangerous. They don't act on recalls, they sell old, expired foods . Stay away.

Food Basic is a great place to do your groceries! The store is always well organized, the staff are friendly and helpful and most of all, the prices are way cheaper! The meat is not packaged there so if you want a specific cut it's not the best place but I still buy the chicken because it too is cheaper than the competitors! With today's food prices, you would be crazy not to get most of your grocery from Food Basics!

Surprisingly good selection, great place for odds and ends I can't find elsewhere, like anchovy paste, concentrated tomato paste and even decently priced, decent quality smoked salmon when even wholesalers are unable to stock it.

Staff is pretty helpful too, though sometimes a bit sparse. As a chef in the valley, this location has proved to be a big time and money-saver over going all the way into town for odds and ends.

Why does it say this and not food basics? ? Either way ‍♂️ good lil discount store. Decent prices, helpful staff and pretty good selections too. Will be returning for certain.
