This place should be absolutely, utterly & downright ashamed of how it “houses” the animals that are being sold here. Which let’s be honest, that alone is a red flag in itself! Any modern establishment that truly *cares* about the wellbeing of animals isn’t going to buy them (there’s a very good chance that they are coming from backyard breeders & mills) simply for the sake of selling them in order to make a profit at the end of the day. Look for places that *only* adopt out animals from shelters or rescues instead! Those are the establishments that genuinely have animals best interest in mind, not profit.

With that being said, absolutely every single bird cage is beyond disgustingly filthy! Every. Single. One. Not a single clean water dish in sight, there is feces & feathers literally *all* over the place (inside & outside of the truly pathetic excuses that they have for cages - some of which are crammed with multiple birds) cages stacked on top of each other, etc. As if that’s not bad enough, not a single cage has an even remotely acceptable amount of enrichment (some with NO enrichment at all) for these poor birds! Their store shelves & floors are literally filled to the brim with items - honestly, walking in this store is overwhelming. The fact that they can’t even spare any of those items for the actual *living* creatures in here speaks volumes about what their priorities are!

What kind of precedent do you think you’re setting for people who come in here to purchase animals? You are quite literally setting the bar so extremely low / setting the worst example possible. In addition to the truly downright sad state of the birds & their “enclosures”, the cat (that they have in a cage intended for chinchilla’s) has a litterbox box that has more mounds of feces than litter itself! I didn’t have the heart to look any further in the store, I can only imagine the state of the fish tanks & reptile enclosures. The beta fish in glass jars at the till gave me a fairly good idea to say the least! Anyone who actually knows *anything* about beta fish knows that they need a 5 gallon tank at minimum, equipped with a heater & filter in order to thrive. Just because they “can” live in a cup of water, doesn’t mean that they should or deserve to!

There is a colossal difference between “loving” the idea of animals & the money that they can make you simply by selling them, in addition to genuinely loving & caring for the sentient beings that are quite literally in your hands / under what is suppose to be your care. I used to love coming into this place as a child as I simply didn’t know better, but now as an adult it has become quite clear to me what their real priorities are here! To think that I once felt bad about two other shops opening up in town... Do better! Adopt don’t shop - especially not from here.

The staff here is always so nice. I showed up early in the morning just to browse, and left a very happy customer. I got the cutest pet tag, collar, harness, sweater and leash for my kitten. All in a nice shade of teal. So I'd say there selection is pretty good. The store is a bit messy and hard to navigate the selection. Especially the pet tags, was hard pick one. Either way, I always stop at Indigo when I am in town.

This place is amazing! The product selection is extensive, and the staff are all super friendly and knowledgeable. However, the owner Nick absolutely fantastic! She saved our aging cat's life by analyzing its nutritional needs and specific care. He recovered and returned to great health - and remains healthy and lively a few years later. Thanks Nicki. 🙂
