Hands down the best vet. It’s a 45 min drive for me from Edmonton but it’s worth it. From Dr Iqbal to the techs to reception, they’re amazing, kind, helpful, and more importantly honest. Highly recommend them. Driving 45 minutes can save you $100s. Kobe loves it there and we couldn’t be happier.

If I could give them a million stars I would!!!

It was just a normal day then suddenly just over night muffin our 10 month old Bernese became very weak and was in so much pain she couldn’t get up or move on her own without being in pain she became very lethargic and had a fever of 40 degrees
We didn’t know what was going on to our sweet baby. I rushed her to a local vet here in the Red Deer area and did some tests but couldn’t seem to figure out what was going on we ended up being referred to a specialist but they wanted to run a bunch of tests to just get her a diagnosis which was going to cost us thousands and thousands of dollars with no guarantee of a diagnosis not even for any treatments to help her feel better.
Our pet insurance unfortunately doesn’t do direct billing so this wasn’t an option for us and the vet wouldn’t let us do a direct form for some silly reason.
Due to this issue we unfortunately had to bring Muffin home with no answers and wait until our girl could see a vet that could help us
As time went on muffin was getting worse by the minute she was becoming lifeless and was in so much pain. We couldn’t wait any longer

We then we were recommended to take her to Gibbons vet!
When I brought her in to the Gibbons Vet Muffin was very sick, unable to be moved had to be carried in by a stretcher she was in so much pain
These guys did absolutely amazing with her! They were able to get a diagnosis, and gave us several options on what we could do for her and didn’t charge us an arm and a leg to get the help she needed!! They even helped meet us half way with our direct form with our insurance!! Muffin is now thriving and back to her 10 month old self again! Thank you thank you thank you! For saving our girl!! Definitely worth the 2 hour drive! We will definitely be returning!!

My wife and I adopted a 2.5 year old bully in late August. Unfortunately he had a broken canine. Insurance wouldn’t cover any procedures or treatment for this since it was pre existing.
After getting quotes from around the city I did not find any vet clinics that could do the procedure for less than $1500.
Thankfully my dad’s friend recommended Gibbons Veterinary Clinic. The price was way more reasonable. The staff was very kind and answered any questions I had. Will definitely be recommending them to all my friends!

I actually truly love this vet, as he has done wonders for my pets over the years. But after today I have to leave a bad review not for him, because he is amazing, but the other staff. I have no idea if it's the same person but when my dog was put down this year, the woman who did it was not compassionate, and I didn't actually think she would be the one to do it but it turned out she was. She forgot to add the actual euthanasia to the bill, laughed, walked out, then brought it back and laughed about it. Extremely rude behaviour considering the circumstances. But then just now I called and asked for advice on bringing my puppy in who I think may have consumed mouse poison. She wouldn't give me an answer, said "I don't know", then said it's recommended, and laughed at me when I told her I'm an hour away. She kept laughing when I asked if I should go to a closer vet and said "probably". Like, sorry I'm not a vet and I don't know these things? Try being kind? I love this vet but I'll be making a formal complaint and not going back until I see an apology or that person moved elsewhere where she doesn't interact with people in distress.

I’ve had several troubling experiences with this vet office throughout 2024, and I can no longer trust them with my pets’ care. On one occasion, the vet immediately accused me of lying before I could even speak, simply based on my cat’s appearance. He diagnosed her with gingivitis but provided no advice or recommendations on how to manage her condition or take proper care of her.

A second, more heartbreaking experience involved our family dog. When my mother brought her in because she was very ill, Dr. Iqbal accused us of improper supervision and care, suggesting that our dog had ingested antifreeze simply because she lived on a farm. He barely examined her and prescribed three different medications without a clear diagnosis. When we asked for recommendations on how to help our beloved pet, his response was, “I don’t know, it’s not my dog—you can figure it out.” Tragically, less than a week later, we lost our dog due to what turned out to be a misdiagnosed case of Pyometra. After consulting with our new vet, I found out that Pyometra is an easily diagnosed condition, and within the first two minutes of the visit, they would have known exactly how to treat it. The fact that Dr. Iqbal missed this diagnosis and failed to act appropriately is both shocking and devastating. Had he not been so accusatory and rude, our dog might still be with us today.

On a third occasion, our 14-year-old senior dog had a seizure. When we brought her in, Dr. Iqbal again accused us of improper supervision, implying that our dog had ingested antifreeze simply because she lives on a farm. In reality, she had been inside her kennel all day, supervised due to her poor hearing and vision, and was only let outside briefly before the seizure occurred. Without running any diagnostic tests, the vet wanted to prescribe seizure medication, despite it being a one-time event.

To make matters worse, most appointments at this office feel rushed, as if Dr. Iqbal no longer cares about his customers or his line of work. There’s little to no time spent discussing treatment options or showing genuine concern for the well-being of the animals. I’ve never had any issues with any of the vet techs—they have always been friendly, helpful, and shown good bedside manners. However, if the vet is no longer happy with the job he is doing, I strongly suggest a change. Otherwise, I foresee more unhappy customers.

I’m disgusted by how this vet has treated both me and my family. His bedside manner has only worsened over time, and the repeated accusations, lack of proper examinations, and dismissive attitude have caused unnecessary distress for our pets and us. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone who values compassion and professionalism in their pet care.

Dr. Iqbal and his staff were absolutely fantastic! Super care of my chihuahua who needed both dental surgery and removal of a lipoma that went so well. Their care was the best part, their prices half of that in the city ranks right up there. Highly recommend!
