As I followed my phone’s GPS directions, I looked around when I was within 1/3 of a mile and thought, “Well, the map has led me astray. There’s no coffee shop around here.” I’d just passed through a protected wetlands area, full of birds. I should know better than to doubt the map though. Lo and behold, I turned the corner and there was Knead a Brake. It’s a charming shop and store that with a delightful scent of yeast and sugar and coffee. The cruffin melts in your mouth (you definitely want it dusted with sugar, even if you’ve spent the last year losing 60 pounds and have changed your eating habits. This is one time it’s worth it), the coffee is delicious and you’ll want a cheese croissant for later, just in case the weather turns and you can’t make it to your destination for lunch because of all the blowing snow. That cheese croissant will keep you fed until you get back home. I made a return trip the next day and got both a hot coffee for breakfast and an iced coffee, no ice, to have for my drive off the island and back through New Brunswick. I also got some additional pastries for the road. It’s all delicious. Also, the paper cups are inventive and environmentally-friendly, for something intended to be used just one time. Enjoy!!

I rarely leave reviews, but I was just going through my photos from my trip to PEI this summer and decided I had to review this place…because I still think about the croissants I got from this little place. I was driving across PEI and saw an “open” flag and a bunch of cars outside of what looked like a house, so I looked on my map to see what I had passed. When I saw it was a bakery, I turned around and went back. I got a
Croissant/Muffin with sugar on top, and another braided croissant. Both were the best pastries I’ve ever had…and I have had pastries in a lot of places. I hope to get back to PEI someday and eat there again!

Come see Kiersten and Rafael at this beautiful spot in heaven, with green and floral fields and beautiful water views all around. Come sit on the patio in the sun, enjoy a hot or cold drink with some of the best quality baked goods. If you are a bike enthusiast, great news, they have it all set up for you to rent, to fix and to take a break riding. You are in for a treat from this beautiful couple from Melbourne and Montreal. They brought the best experience, food, drinks to pei and captured the beauty of the land so well. Thank you Rafael and Kiersten ❤️🌹🎈

Cute little spot in a scenic location. I only had the cheese Kroaf but it was delicious - great crusty exterior and cheesy flavour (and it was a generous size for the price). I like that this place was a combined bakery and bike shop - cute concept!

Heaven! High quality cycling products,exquisite French pastries and coffee! We’re exploring bike trails in Canada and always look for the most highly rated bakeries in each area. After over 4000 miles on this trip these beat all the “best” (including Toronto, Montreal, Quebec, Cape Breton, Maine and places in between!) Even better than some I had in Paris, France! This place is a gem! We sampled a dozen and each one was excellent!

I will have dreams about this croissant... First, the crunchy, flakey crust; next, the soft, moist interior, the exquisite flavour of butter as the croissant feels like it melts in your mouth and envelops you in ecstasy. Make no mistake: this is the food of the gods. In fact, it is near enough to perfection to inspire one to believe in God. I mean, you know how those old Ferrero Roche commercials always showed the chocolate being enjoyed by the Greek gods on Olympus? That's basically what this is, except it's a croissant. Thank you. Seriously, thank you. And well done. I would go to the ends of the earth to have this again. Thankfully, I only need to go to the East Coast.
