I have received many gifts from this shop and couldn't wait to get in there myself! I've been 3 times and each time has been the best experience. The owner, Jann is friendly and welcoming. I'm now hooked on Compagnie de Provence products - first it was the little hand creams...and now, after recommendation from Jann, the ultra-hydrating body cream is fantastic. They have the best Jellycat selection around, beautiful tea towels and I treated myself to an Edward Lear print. Love Love Love. See you soon.

Rude staff passive aggressively reprimanded me for taking a photo (see attached) in the shop. If you don't want visitors to take photos, consider adding signage outside your shop so people would know exactly what to expect. It's super common to take photos inside shops nowadays; if I knew this is unwelcome from the get go, I wouldn't go in. While I respect private properties have every right to enforce their own set of rules, how they go about doing so say volumes about the business. Glad there is another gift shop available for me to spend my money at Port Hope.

Edit: Thank you for explaining that, however that wasn’t the reason for my review. As an artist myself I respect and value anyone’s time, dedication and right to earn a fair wage I had no issue abiding by those rules in fact I am the first person to support stores such as your own. However that being said it was your passive aggressive tone and the way you watched us and made us feel unwelcome in your store that earned you that review. Saying hi, please or thank you doesn’t cost anything and I suggest you don’t let your bias cloud your judgement on people before you turn them away. Also if you could kindly explain your store protocols before assuming the worst of people as it is quite common for people to take photos now a days and in some instances beneficial for the artist as it can be a form of advertisement. I would’ve referred people to your store and supported you but it was your character that put me off.

I just moved to Port Hope last November, and Bibelot has become one of my new favourite shops! Such a lovely selection of gifts and cards, and the owner is an absolute delight. Highly recommend this gem of a store ?!

Jann and Debbie always go above and beyond for their customers and are always polite and helpful. This shop is gorgeous and has a variety of gifts for any age and person. Cards are from museums all over and are incredibly affordable and gorgeous. A must see when you're in port hope

Lovely curated gift shop. The stationary is excellent and they have a selection of different price categories. I like to pop in every few months to see what's in season and I've had nothing but positive customer services.
