A gem of a local shop with friendly staff and owners. They always have a great selection of our favourite fresh items (striploins, denver steaks, and a wide selection of often gluten free sausages), frozen specialties (like tuna steaks or duck breast), and have incredible limited feature items from time to time - like these wagyu steaks we bought this week. And if you're ever unsure of how to prepare something, they have great suggestions.

A lovely shop. The amazing aroma of an old style butcher shop greets you as soon as you open the door. Our first visit and we will be going back. Our ribeyes were some of the best I have had and that includes some high end butchers I used to frequent in Metro Vancouver. We are so happy we found this gem!

Gentleman’s code: always acquaint yourself with the BEST barber, winemaker and butcher. You will look good, sip well and eat prime!

Often overlooked or under appreciated the role of butcher truly connects you directly with the farmer- a community showcase! As restauranteurs source the finest within the region, butchers partner with local farmers with the best quality and great practices to present the wholesome farm to plate approach we all enjoy.

Black Sage Butcher takes this concept and elevates it with chef-turned-artisanal butcher Matt Leyes and his wonderful wife Ravina who ensures you are well looked after. Merging the ancient trade with his upscale culinary background clients are treated to house-made sausages, pùtés, warm & serve meals and immaculately presented cuts.

There is no secret this award winning shop has a line up of fans- they are a community pulse in the heart of wine country! If you are looking for naturally raised farmed meats, house-made meals or wanting to impress friends or family, visit Matt and Ravina who can give the best suggestions for EVERY occasion! đŸ†đŸ„©đŸ”đŸ—â€ïžđŸ†

What an absolutely great butcher shop! The way their meat is cut and displayed is really fantastic! It is so worth checking out! They also have a few other things for sale like spices and sauces etc., you won’t be disappointed if you stop in here.

I’m not sure where to begin. I suppose I could start by saying that I have never been to a higher quality butcher shop. Ever, and I have been a chef for 45 years. Every product that I have ever bought has been of the finest quality. Lamb sirloin to die for, ribeye (shown in picture) prime rib, amazing sausages, the best ground lamb, and then there’s Matt and Ravina. Their dedication to customer service is second to none, and Matt is not only a great butcher, but a fully qualified and talented chef with an amazing CV. who happily gives cooking ideas and instruction. Oliver is so fortunate to have these young talented and energetic entrepreneurs in our town. Oh yeah, they’re also big supporters of local charities and in my books, that’s the icing on the steak. Or cake? Whatever!

The team at Black Sage Butcher always provides excellent service, and the quality of what they offer (which is a lot) is unmatched. They even carry my favorite fish, swordfish. Highly recommended!

New to buying from a butcher. Thought I'd try it out to see if the experience & quality was worth the cost. Unfortunately my 3rd attempt to purchase there was met with a needlessly hostile person who clearly hated anyone who would ask for guidance how to time my purchases to get the meat as close to butcher time as possible. However I never got to ask due to the high level of impatience & level of hostility of the person who clearly had an loathed my presence from the time I walked in. I was served by people who made me feel valued & who didn't mind questions. It was enjoyable. At least the first two times. Knowing it to be a friendly place - I was not at all expecting to be loathed. Really I'd rather drive to Penticton than go back & risk that kind of emotion so unreasonably directed at me. Not appropriate or necessary to complete what should be a relatively simple transaction. Amazing how one bad employee can undo the work of two other great employees who were kind, service oriented, people. The meat was great but not worth the unearned hostility.

I see they posted a lengthy bunch of assertions that I no longer care about because the way your staff handles themselves is atrocious. I never used the hostility on that atrocious staff member that she was using. I was treated well by other staff but would never visit your store again due to the hostility that I never deserved just by asking questions about purchasing. All you ever had to do was admit that being hostile was unnecessary. Also of note is that fact that I'm not the only customer that has ceased doing business at your establishment due to that individuals hostility - even if that person is an owner. Also you characterizing my responses as "indignant". That's rich coming from someone so defensive that it was challenging just to remain civil in the face of hatred - but I never once responded with the sarcasm, hostility, & anger, & impatience expressed at me from the first moment I asked a question. None of the other staff, including the butcher that spoke to me, were hostile. They were reasonable as was appropriate in attempting to buy meat. You are downright mean!
