A great spot for any items you may need for both travel and home purposes.

I love the Republic of Newfoundland luggage tag I purchased - so many items to personalize your wares can be found here. They also offer some high quality shaving tools like the Rockwell 6C razor. I used it once and realized I will never need another razor again. The stainless steel blades are also a great way to reduce your footprint compared to plastic, disposable razors. All while giving you a somewhat old-fashioned feel to your shave!

Lastly, I won't forget the wonderful staff and their exceptional service, both at the Travel Bug and the Bees Knees. They have been so patient in answering questions and assisting with my needs - always.

During this particular outing, I had called to request a specific color for a toothbrush holder, and was assisted in the most helpful way from an associate. They had informed me that the color I wanted in the toothbrush holder was available, but noticed I had also ordered a soap bar holder that was not available in the same color.

The little details matter. The fact that a call back was made to inform me that they couldn't provide the same color for a different item proves to me they care about customer satisfaction.

A great place to visit for anyone who wants to purchase quality brands while feeling they can proudly support a local business!

Excellent selection of high quality products at very competitive prices. I was looking specifically for a Pacsafe bag, and The Travel Bug had a much larger selection than I expected. There were so many choices of styles, each in several colours. Staff was knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. This is my new "go to" store for all things travel!

Had a Samsonite trolley in very good conditions. Got this elsewhere.
Unfortunately during a travel one of the 4 wheels got damaged making the whole trolley unusable...
Contacted Samsonite who could not send spare parts to fix it and suggested to contact local dealer. Travel Bug was the only option.
Went there and found a very nice person who listen to the whole story saying they would all they could to help contacting Samsonite themselves.
After about a week received a call from the store that my trolley had been replaced with a brand new Samsonite at no cost to me!!
Although this new trolley is smaller in size than my previous one I still like it and very much appreciated the customer care of this young lady who helped us on this case. Very nice store as well. Hope this review will help someone else in similar situation.
If you happen to be in St. John's and walk in Water Street, spend some time in their store, very nice people and products!!

Great little store. Seems to have covered all the categories of needs travelers have. Great customer service from the woman on duty. I especially appreciate the focus on local authors and publishers, being one myself elsewhere.

I can't say enough about the excellent service from Katrina and the other staff members of the Travel Bug. They contacted Samsonite on my behalf about repairing 2 B-Lite 3 Spinner Widebody carry-ons . A week later I picked up 2 new replacements suitcases. These are excellent carryons and I was so pleased with the outcome. Thank you! I have shopped at the Travel Bug for years and their products and service are excellent. Highly recommended.

Initially had a poor experience related to the labeling of an item re: price.

Management did reach out to correct the situation. Much obliged, Katrina.

I will chalk the situation up to a well-meaning but perhaps inexperienced clerk. I hope that management has chatted internally with their employees about such matters.

Just a suggestion for the St. John's Board of Trade: has there ever been any discussion about offering a short-course for potential / current retail workers and entrepreneurs about some of the basics of customer service? NL has a fantastic reputation for friendly and genuine people ... but sometimes there are shortcoming in relation to customer expectations. A little off topic, I know ... but worth mentioning.

Any how, I will return to The Travel Bug and see how this next experience goes ... fingers crossed.

Update to follow ...

Terrible experience.

Took an item to check out. "Sorry sir, this is not the correct price. It's not $30 it's $45."

"Hmm..."

Checkout clerk calls MOD.

As she is picking off the price tag MOD says, "That was mislabeled. We had some discounted a while back. This one must have been mislabeled by mistake. So can we charge you the higher price?"

"No. Mislabeled is not my fault. You are supposed to honour the sticker price."

"Ah ... Sorry no."

"Really? This is bad business."

The item? A plain Secrid case.

Just terrible.

The honest customer is ALWAYS right.

So the matter of $15 ... is it worth the bad PR?

This small boutique travel store is a must visit for shopping in St. John's, as well as it's sister store beside it, the Bee's Knees. Sustainably sourced, unique, high quality products line the shelves, including travel accessories, packs, luggage, books, and great gift ideas.
