I was not sure what to expect when I drove up to the Classic Inn. The parking lot was completely empty and the hotel has an appearance as if it might be closed. When I found what door I was supposed to use to check in and wandered to the bar area where the check in was I felt a bit more comfortable.
The inside of the hotel is in much better shape than the outside. The gentlemen who checked me in was friendly.
I walked past a few gaming machines on my way to the corridor with the hotel rooms.
My door was difficult to open but I finally jiggled it enough to get it unlocked.
The room was actually fairly nice. It was clean, and had the basic amenities one would expect.
The room was on 65 dollars which I felt was a fair price. Would I stay here again? Yes.

My co-worker, Andrea, already wrote a review but having been one of the 3 people that ended up staying the night, I have a few things to add in addition to what she already said about the erratic and harassing behavior exhibited by the owner and another staff member. ||||For one, the hot water in my room did not work. When I tried turning on the hot water in the shower, absolutely no water came out. ||||Secondly, the tub in the other room (which I had to take a shower in due to the above issues) didn't drain well. By the time that my short shower was finished, the water was past my ankles. ||||Third, the smell. She mentioned that the rest of the hotel smelled like sewage and while that smell was mostly absent from the rooms themselves, they smelled musty. ||||Four, about an hour after we got there, me and two others were walking down the hallway when the owner came around a corner, blocking our path, and began hammering us with questions about how many people were in our rooms, how long they would be there, and kept repeating over and over that there was no smoking in the rooms... Despite the fact that he had seen us all filing out of the hotel several times to smoke at that point.||He then demanded to know who was paying for the room and insisted that I get her and bring her to the front to pay.. Instead of allowing her to pay in the morning, as was the initial arrangement, and that she write down all of her contact and identification information on a piece of paper.||||Now, I don't know about you, but I really don't appreciate being treated like a criminal by the owner of a hotel when I decide to rent one of his rooms. We were always polite and considerate when we interacted with him and his staff (wife?), which was only on a few occasions when a couple of people went to the bar for a beer or snacks, and we were treated like trash in return.||||It's no wonder that we were the only people in the entire hotel. What could've been good, consistent business for him, ended with all of us unwilling to ever give him our business again, at his hotel or the attached restaurant.

When you drive up to the Classic Inn you don't get a warm and fuzzy feeling. The building looks seriously out of date. Walking in to the lobby doesn't help with that feeling. It is dark and a little stale smelling. Then you walk up to the counter and press the Bell "for service" and a lady appears from the Bar beyond the office and grabs a ring bound notebook to find your reservation and hands you a keychain with a couple of keys to get into your room. You walk down the hall to your room and although recently painted, the carpet and fixtures tell you that this is a hotel that is well past its time for a updating. The rooms are not a whole lot better, swag lamps, , tube TVs and out of date bedspreads and robins egg blue tub and toilet finish off the experience. ||||That said, oddly enough if you can get past the slightly stale smell that permeates the hotel, when you look past the age, the rooms are neat and clean, and the stay is quiet and quite enjoyable. Our room had two queen beds and although a little harder than I like, the linens were nice and fresh and the pillows acceptable. The TV although 15 years old or so, still worked well and had about 60 channels of cable TV. The shower was a WaterPic Shower Massage which provided and invigorating shower and there was no shortage of hot water.||||The hotel itself has two restaurants and a lounge/bar. One of the restaurants is a Sushi place, oddly enough Melville has two Sushi restaurants, and the other a more traditional hotel diner that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The only meal we ate there was the breakfast and it was the typical fare, eggs, bacon, ham or sausage cooked well and very tasty. Talking to the locals, the restaurant is the go-to place for breakfast in Melville.||||All in all a pleasant surprise in a place that is well past it's prime.

Friendly owner. Room was very clean and comfortable…everything worked well and it was quiet there. The price was fantastic. I was very comfortable there and rested well. Lounge is quiet with cold beer and good music playing. I am heading back in couple weeks and will for sure stay again!

The hotel definitely could use some updates. The outside of the building doesn't look very inviting at all. When you walk in the lobby, restaurant and lounge look surprisingly better than the outside of the building. The rooms seem to have a musty smell. When I turned the tap on for a shower, the water ran brown for about 1 min. I'm guessing it hasn't ran through the pipes in awhile. Management is very friendly and the food seemed pretty good.

Not at all impressed with the hotel restaurant food. We ordered to go. My kid's grilled cheese sandwich was fine until you flipped it from the side it was laying on. Burned black nice how they discretely hid it in the take out container. My springrolls appetizer burned. Shrimp noodle dish which was $13 contained 5 shrimp with 8 pepper slices and some random huge peices of green onion. This with the linguine pasta was about a cup and 1\2 serving. They doubled in profit on our cheap local grocery store food and lacked in cooking skill. I doubt their motto should be One of the best restaurants in Saskatchewan ( which it says on their site that wont open). Wont be returning.

Room was clean. Mattress and pillow adequate. Dated decor. Some "not up to code" electrical work. AC broken. Fair amount of noise from the trains. Parked in the back and couldn't get out that way in the morning (all locked areas) so had to walk in the pouring rain in the muddy alley to get to my car. Didn't get a chance to eat there, but the Korean menu did look good.

Rented room there what used to be great motel is sadly not now. The rooms were very dated to 28 years old I would estimate. Was spat in the hallway from back door, gross not appealing at all. Felt very uneasy in this place. And I used to be from Melville. The room was stinky and was very dirty. Low and behold we left after getting our room key. Without getting any money back. Never again. Sad how times have changed for the once Classic Inn that was classy place.
