We had an incredible experience with Ocean West Adventures! My husband, our dog, and I did the combo tour on the 30 ft aluminum boat, and it couldn’t have been better (even with a little rain) We saw sea lions, otters, and whales, plus got to catch salmon to cook which made for such a well-rounded day on the water.

Scott, the guide (and owner), really made the trip special. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and personable, and went above and beyond to make sure our one day out was memorable. From being super communicative and helpful before the trip to giving our group a lot of attention on the water, you could tell he genuinely cared about creating a great experience.

Exactly the kind of guide you hope to get—professional, enthusiastic, and clearly passionate about what he does. We couldn’t recommend Ocean West Adventures enough!

Wow, what a great day fishing! I went out on Scott’s second boat with Capt. Owen, and it was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable, capable, and rather pleasant to spend the day with. Everything I could have asked for. Plus we caught some great fish! Note: person sized halibut was way too big to legally keep, and we did successfully release it.

Scott was a wonderful guide on a fun off-season jaunt around the Broken Islands. He was kind to take me on an afternoon boat cruise to see the landscape and wildlife. Saw my first grey whale, a cooperative sea otter, neat birds, lots of Stellar’s and learned about the area.

Incredibly knowledgeable and fun to learn from. Highly recommend!

100 percent will use oceans west adventures again. Owen our guide was a true local, very knowledgeable and respectable. We got lucky our first days and limited out on salmon, ling cod, and rock cod. The next day we limited out on salmon and rock cod, also got 1 halibut. The boat was clean and well kept. Would recommend oceans west to anyone.

Our group of four had a fantastic whale watching experience with Oceans West! Scott was an excellent guide, laying out different options for routes to our group and giving us a good sense throughout the excursion of what type of wildlife we might expect to see. We were quite lucky, and spotted a pair of grey whales just coming out of the harbour! That said, what made the experience so memorable was the great service we received from Scott before, during and even after the tour when he shared some great local tips with us. All in all, would highly recommend a whale watching tour with Oceans West while in Ucluelet.
