I understand that CAS may be underfunded and/or understaffed. Nevertheless, people who reported concerns about children's well-being should not be made to feel their reports are being questioned. The intake person should not sound like a gatekeeper. Read any literature on child abuse, and all experts agree that it's under-reported, not over-reported.
I told the intake person that the family that I was concerned about had a stressful living situation -- four people in a 700 sq.ft. space. His response: "How do you know they are stressed?". Come on, use some common sense! Do I need to find academic papers that show crowded living space is a source of chronic stress in order to convince the intake person I have a reason to be concerned about a child screaming and saying that her mom was beating her?

I would like to express my concerns regarding my recent interactions with the Children’s Aid Society in Toronto. I recognize and appreciate the challenging circumstances faced by CAS staff, including understaffing, heavy workloads, and limited resources. However, I believe there is room for improvement in ensuring fair and equitable treatment for all families seeking assistance.

On two separate occasions, I reached out to CAS regarding concerns for the safety of my seven-month-old child. During my first contact, I was told someone would follow up, but no further communication was provided. When I called again, I was simply directed to the police without any additional support. Meanwhile, when the other parent reached out, an intake was promptly conducted, and inaccurate allegations were recorded without proper verification.

All parents deserve equal consideration, regardless of gender or ethnicity. While I understand the immense pressure on your team, the well-being of children must remain the top priority. Due to the lack of timely intervention, I have been subjected to false allegations, and my child’s safety remains at risk without a proper welfare check to this day (initial contact: February 23).

I urge CAS Toronto to address these systemic challenges with greater transparency and fairness. This is a vital service for families, and I hope my feedback contributes to meaningful improvements. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

The worst experience of my life cas they go into everyone’s home to try and tell people how to be parents but yet a lot of these workers have no kids of their own you can’t raise a child out a book every child develops at different paces and kids are different and have their own unique individual personality nobody is born to be parents we learn as we go along as far as I am concerned they should be shut down there are more abused children that are in foster care and cas then parents homes I have nothing nice or good to say about this organization I was too abused in cas homes myself and group home if you don’t have kids then what gives you any right to go into parents homes to try and tell them how they should be what gives you the right to tell people what to do you need to seriously step off and stop taking kids away from parents that don’t deserve to have their kids taken away stop using peoples pasts against them people change maybe if you worked with the families and help them keep their kids then maybe parents will want to work with you more stop judging parents stop calling them names putting them down stop treating parents like crap you are not perfect you have no right to judge you have a bad reputation already I suggest you all need to change how you deal with us parents and change how you treat them and you need to be more understanding and considerate to others feelings and you all need to stop putting children in risky situations to where they could potentially be abused like you guys did to mine and are still doing it all starts with you if you don’t change them things will remain the same stop taking kids away and breaking up families now I know that kids are abused in parents homes that should be taken away but not all parents abuse their children we as parents make mistakes non of us are perfect that is all I have to say this is only gonna get worse if you keep doing what you are doing this is advice it’s up to you what you do with this I have nothing to say other then that good luck

I attended this location with my son to be assessed by Dr. Patel. I cried for help and waited months for this assessment for him to meet with the child for less than 3 minutes and ask the most basic vague questions. Had no interest in hearing from his caregiver about the challenges and trauma he has been facing. He was unprofessional, rude and extremely condescending. I would never send my child or any child of that matter to that man. His unprofessionalism really was demonstrated today when the appointment went 1 minute over the time and he wouldn’t even let the CAS worker speak and asked us to leave. Literally sick to my stomach thinking this is their solution to help the children!!! 1 star is me being generous as -100000 isn’t an option!!

This office has let down a 3 year old little boy , he was murdered in the washroom of the Isabella children’s aid office last week by Shardane Emily Cousins, the lady was in the washroom with him for over a hour and a half and when she left there was blood on in the washroom. No one helped this little boy while he was being murdered in the washroom . Childrens aid has continued to fail over and over again . And now a little boys life is gone and they did nothing about it as it happened in their facility.

I'm a teenager going through emotional and verbal abuse. A school contacted them to "help me" and because it is a "trustworthy" organization. However, the lady DID NOT help me. firstly, they gave me a Fire Safety Plan, even though I live in a rental unit with Carbon Monoxide alarms everywhere, and I am not a Pyromaniac. Secondly, when I told them about my abuse allegations, they blamed my "teenage hormones", even though I have pretty decent behavior, which only perpetuated the fact that my parents have the right to abuse me because they gave birth to me, and the the abusers always and will be in charge, no matter how the victim feels. Therefore, it it a terrible organization, that I DO NOT RECOMMEND. PERIOD. Greedy scumbags that only steal your family's tax $$$.
