I have recently moved to Ontario and sought to find a jeweller with a great reputation and found Anstett. After reading up on the history of a highly reputable family jewelry business since 1950 I felt confident to trust them with adding gems to two antique rings, repairing broken claws and resizing. They really took the time to understand exactly the colour and quality of gemstones and were so particular that when they ordered a sapphire for one of the rings and they weren’t quite satisfied with the exact colour of the gem that they sent it back twice until they got the exact colour desired. Both rings turned out perfectly, just as I had desired. I couldn’t be more pleased with their craftsmanship and quality and I am so thankful I found them to bring back to life two rings with sentimental value. Here are a couple photos, which of course don’t capture the absolute depth and tones of the stones but you can clearly see the repairs of the broken claws are flawless.

Came to them looking to replace my wedding set for 20th anniversary. I had been to about half a dozen different jewellery stores, and none felt right until I walked into Anstett. The staff, including the owner, were very friendly, informative, patient, attentive, and educational. They taught me all about diamonds and gold and what to look for. They told me about their website, where I could build my custom ring. The website was very easy and fun to use, and I used it to build the ring I wanted. I brought that information back to them, and they worked with my husband and I to get exactly what I wanted (even finding a bigger Diamond of the same quality for a lower price!). The final result is stunning and so exciting. I couldn’t be happier with my experience with them. They are even designing a necklace out of my old wedding set so I could keep it and still wear it. They brought a personal touch to the experience, and got some customers for life!

I dropped off a gold ring for a simple band repair, and when I went to pick it up I noticed that the antiquing had been removed around the stone, and that the sapphire was chipped. I pointed this out and I was informed by Nancy (the owner?) that Anstett’s looks at all repairs upon intake under a microscope, and that the goldsmith had drawn a picture in pencil on the envelope holding the ring.

I then pointed out that the “drawing” indicated no damage, nor had anyone reported a chipped stone at intake? Nancy said I would have to wait for the goldsmith to return from holiday and discuss with her, but that she had worked for the family for decades. I left the ring with them, and for a call the next week. I finally called them and was told by Nancy that the antique finish had been reapplied and I could come pick up the ring. I asked about the chip and Nancy became defensive. Stated that she wasn’t going to argue with me. I again asked why no one had noted the damage upon intake or in the drawing if it had indeed already been damaged and I somehow just hadn’t noticed? I found her extremely rude considering I was asking in a calm manner about their policies when taking in jewelry for repair. She stated it must have been someone new working there. So now maybe no one looked at the piece?

I arrived the next week to pick up and asked to speak to the goldsmith as Nancy had instructed me to do. She didn’t know anything about the problem! Told me I would have to wait for Nancy to come in! Then repeated that she had worked there for 30+ years. Does this mean you can’t make a mistake? Surely you don’t want to be responsible for a damaged piece and would immediately point that out to the owner before repairing, so you’re not blamed for the damage? I was charged for the band repair, informed that my ring was dirty, and that I just hadn’t noticed…

I suggested that they take photos of all pieces upon intake (especially in this day and age!). Nope, not doing that. I’m horribly disappointed in the service they provided, the way that I was treated, and I would recommend that if you’re taking a piece into them, take pictures first and save yourself the grief they caused me. It’s my promise ring from Italy 22 years ago. They should change their policies so this never happens to anyone else, and learn about how to provide customer service that doesn’t make their customers feel like they’re the one who did something wrong.

Everytime I walk into Anstett’s I am always greated with a warm welcome. The staff is always knowledgeable and helpful, they treat everyone who walks through the door with kindness, patience and respect. Samantha is one of my favourites, her humour and honesty always make my day.

Worst service ever, we brought 5 watches in to replace batteries. They only could 3 of them because they didn't have the right batteries. When we picked them up only one of the 3 was working. And they destroyed the band on one watch.
Will never see me again.
