Cheerful Giver in Carleton Place is truly one of the most wonderful places in our community. It’s so much more than a thrift store — it’s a place filled with kindness, compassion, and genuine care for others. Every visit feels like being welcomed by family.

The volunteers who run Cheerful Giver are absolute gems! Their dedication, hard work, and huge hearts shine through in everything they do. You can tell they pour their time and energy into making the store a bright, organized, and uplifting space for everyone who walks through the door. They go above and beyond to help, always with a smile and a kind word.

It’s rare to find a place that gives back so much — not just through affordable items and community support, but through the love and warmth that fills the air. The Cheerful Giver is exactly what its name promises — cheerful, generous, and full of giving spirits.

Thank you to every single volunteer who keeps this special place running. You make Carleton Place a better, brighter, and more caring community. ❤️

As well please note, to the Karen named Helen who posted about the rude people in the back, if you were to of read there big sign saying full, you would of realized they could not take anything more in. Common sense is no longer common I’m assuming in some people Helen

I absolutely love this thrift store! I recently heard they’ve expanded and can’t wait to check it out. I grew up in Carleton Place and love coming back to the old Tim Hortons transformed into something so wonderful! The little drive from Ottawa is always worth it…. the prices are fair, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff are always so friendly and helpful.

If I could make one small wish, it would be for Sunday hours — but I completely understand! 😊

As an organization who trains service dogs I wanted to post a review to counter the last negative review. The wonderful people at Cheerful Giver are hard working in so many ways. To start.. they donated to our company for a young girl needing a diabetic response service dog. Thousands of dollars were given. They only have so much space for donations so they post signs saying that they are not able to take clothing or other item donations. The work they do for our community is life saving in so many ways. They have paid rent for people in the community, blessed people with gift cards when hard times have hit.hit, and yes… they helped this young girl needing a service dog. All with our community’s support and help. So if you attend and see the No Donations sign please respect that. They only have so much room, and being community heroes, is hard work. Please support Cheerful Giver in any way they are needing help, but please don’t overstep and bring negative to a very positive company.

Love the Cheerful Giver!! Everyone there is awesome. They work so hard to go through the mountains of donations. To Helen that gave the bad review: Goodness, you singled out a non-profit organization that provides a much needed seevice to our community. And you just had to add a shady, snarky comment at the end. Shame on you. Be better.

Love this store and so appreciate that this is a SERVICE PROVIDED TO THE COMMUNITY! They are under no obligation to a) take your items, or b) take any unkind words or attitudes towards any staff.
When there is so much division in the world already, really? This is really how you want your community to know you?
The volunteers and owners are wonderful and I know if I had a carload of stuff, I wouldn’t just show up and expect someone to take it right away. I’d call ahead and make sure.

I have been going here every Friday for ever now. I'm a single momma who loves to save money where I can. Staff is friendly and helpfull. I have gotten every thing from clothes to furniture, as well as some emergency food to help me deal with an unexpected emergency. This Friday I grabbed a bunch of name brand Tupperware, and some kitchen supplies, and lastly pjs, all for $9

Cheerful Giver does SO much for our community! All proceeds go back to helping people in need. There is also a community sharing pantry in the store, to help reduce waste -- if you have something you're not going to use, drop it off and let someone else use it! Staff are always cheerful, friendly, and helpful.

The store side is great, with good prices. I gather they are getting too many donations, as the backside is very rude from taking one bag, to three or more, been hearing similar comments from social group I belong to. This was not my first trip, before they were happy but attitude has changed. Sad, I had old antique items mixed with kitchen items, today. I took my items to another shop that was over joyed with the antiques and mixed items.
it's a non profit where does the profit go and what ghe percentage is....
