I love tanning at this Blackfalds location. It's a clean, beautiful, relaxing environment. The owners are friendly and all of the employees are amazing to deal with! They are also accommodating if you need to move an appointment last minute or book a same day appointment. They have a good variety of tanning lotions and cream available. They also do red light tanning which is good to help prevent the winter blues!

I am always incredibly impressed by the outstanding customer service and management. The staff always goes above and beyond to make sure I had a pleasant experience and were very knowledgeable and helpful.

Jessica gave me the most stunning classic lash set. I couldn't be happier with the results, my retention has be amazing. Perfect for wedding season or an easier wake up and go lifestyle.

I have met the owners and the manager, and they have all been so incredibly helpful and kind. The facility is pristine and beautiful, with a very calm and relaxing feel. 10/10 would recommend!!!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of Jordynn threading my upper lip and eyebrows. She did an incredible job. She mapped my eyebrows & executed cleaning up and shaping them perfectly. Very professional and a cozy relaxing experience in a beautiful and cleanly studio. I would highly recommend Jordynn to anyone considering trying this service!

Was lied to by the owner. I asked if there was a Fabutan close to where I live and was told “no you will have to tan here” .. I then did my own research and found a fabutan was newly opened in my town and that the owner would have known this . Very unprofessional and rude.

I have been a loyal customer at Fabutan for over two years, using the Lacombe and Blackfalds locations. While the facilities are well-maintained and the tanning beds are always in great condition, my overall experience has been marred by the unprofessional behavior of the owner, Mark.

Pros:

The space is very clean.
The tanning beds are well maintained.
The owner's daughter, as well as the other stuff, are very sweet and provide excellent customer service.

Cons:

The owner is extremely rude and unprofessional.

In November 2023, I revisited the studio after a 4-5 month hiatus and expressed my desire to cancel my membership before a planned trip. The owner's daughter, who is always kind and helpful, informed me that if I canceled, I would have to pay the sign-up fee again as well as the new rate which had increased since I signed up in May 2022, and was set to increase again in the January that followed, if I decided to rejoin in the future. She assured me that if I kept my account active, my current monthly rate would be honored. Based on this information, I chose to keep my membership.

Over the next six months, I used my membership for a total of 11 visits (6 spray tans and 10 laydown sessions). However, in mid-June 2024, when I visited the studio, Mark informed me that my rate would increase starting July 1. This was surprising, as his daughter had assured me that my rate would remain unchanged. When I mentioned this conversation to Mark, he rudely dismissed my claim, stating, "There is no way my daughter would have told you that. How would I make money otherwise? I lose money by you staying at your current rate. You're lucky you've had this lower rate for as long as I’ve let you." He stated he knew his daughter, and "she would not say that!".

Despite being a loyal client for over two years and not being affected by previous rate increases that had happened over that time, I found Mark's attitude extremely unprofessional. His abrupt decision to increase my monthly cost with less than two weeks' notice was contrary to the agreement I signed, which required a 30-day notice for any changes. Feeling undervalued, I decided to cancel my membership effective August 1 instead of accepting the rate increase.

My final interactions with Mark were very unpleasant. During my last visit, I was taken aback by his rude and sarcastic tone when he told me, "No. We will tell you when, kay! THANK YOUUUUU!" as I inquired if the spray tan room was ready after my laydown session. This condescending behavior was a common trait of his, and I had often witnessed him in a bad mood, short tempered towards his family member who is staff though he thinks he's hiding it, sometimes even overhearing him speak inappropriately about clients.

Despite the clean and well-maintained facilities, the negative interactions with Mark overshadowed my overall experience. Over my 27 months as a Fabutan client, I paid for my membership in full but barely used it, I used a total of approximately 25 spray tans out of a possible 54, 40 laydown sessions out of a possible 800, and under 15 red light sessions out of a possible 800. Many months went by with little to no use, and yet, I continued to pay faithfully.

I am relieved to have ended my membership and will not be returning. While the owner's daughter and the cleanliness of the studio were positives, the unprofessionalism and rudeness of the owner are the main reason for me to not recommend this location. Everything I have stated in this review is entirely true and I am a big supporter of "supporting local", however, as long as Mark is the owner, I will not return. Insisting that somebody is lying, is incredibly unprofessional. There is definitely opportunity to improve, and understand that there is a possibility of a misunderstanding when I tried to cancel my membership the first time, however, insisting that what I am saying is not true was wrong.

So first off the girl who helped me was very kind, I have never used the new "2 spray" mystic tan, she showed me how to stand and then left me to it.... Unfortunately the tan didn't work great for me and I wasn't sure if it was because of my post partum body, if I maybe should have been standing slightly different? So I called and asked if there was something I did wrong because the tan around my chest and on the sides of my body was quite a bit lighter - I had loose no elastic pants and a hoodie on so it wasn't tight clothes. Anyways she told me she wasn't sure what happened a manager would contact me - never heard a thing back. Wich is unfortunate because I just moved here and was looking forward to using their facilities instead of driving to red deer. Oh well.
