I just had a DISGUSTING experience. I called a few weeks ago to make an appointment to see Dr. Oyama. I've seen him before and he was a amazing! I called and made the appointment( I just needed some lab work done and such). I got a call from the clinic on Wednesday and was told the receptionist quit so Oyama wasn't taking patients in person at this time and my appointment would now be a phone consult. Appointment was for 1:30 and when I hadn't received a call at 2Pm I called. The first things said were simply "yes what do you need" I explained I had a phone consult appointment at 1:30 and no one had called. He took my name and said "We called at 11 no answer WHAT DO YOU NEED" I explained that no one had called and he tried saying my phone number wasn't on file. Was INCREDIBLY RUDE the entire conversation mind you. Would not let me speak and kept cutting me off. Saying normal people do this and I need to figure out what I want. Asked me who my family doctor was and when I said um its you?, he said ya okay and continued cutting me off. Was very rude and snippy with me when I was just trying to figure out what was going on. He then told me for one of the things I needed I had to make an appointment and come in and refused to do anything over the phone I needed. I did make an in person appointment but they cancelled it and when I asked why I could come in for that one but not my appointment for today he told me to find a new doctor and hung up on me. It did not even sound like Dr. Oyama and to say I am unbelievably shocked is an understatement. I have never experienced anything like this with someone claiming to be a medical professional and I cannot even fully express what happened through text. When I told a family member about this they looked into Dr. Oyama and he is restricted from even prescribing controlled drugs. Something is not right with this clinic and I will never be returning!

ZERO STARS!

I have been to Dr. Oyama 3 times now. Today was one of them, I’m shocked to my core. For this appointment I booked extra time, because that is what Dr. Oyama said I needed to do for this appointment. The very nice receptionist who booked me said it was a 30 minute appointment. I had 3 things to talk about, and needed 2 referrals. Two of the 3 things I needed got done, when I questioned about the 2nd referral I was just wanting to understand why he couldn’t do that one, and why I had to come for yet another appointment. I was kind and calm, next thing I know, he is telling me I have attitude and he asked to record the rest of the appointment, surprised I said of course you can. He told me he had people in the waiting room, and I said ok but I booked this extra time like you asked me to so I could get everything done. He then called in the receptionist to witness that I was there for 10 minutes. It honestly felt like I was just a number, and that the pain I told him about meant nothing. The long and short of it is, I felt unheard, uncared for and if anyone knows me I am always kind and considerate. If you want a doctor who cares, listens and doesn’t just make you feel like a number, don’t go here. He told me he was blunt and doesn’t care about having to deal with people who have attitude, but one more time then I’m out. I’m still in shock. And even though its hard to find a Doctor right now, I will not be going back. When I left I actually said, Im sorry you feel this way as I did not come across the way you are Implying. Sorry this was so long but I cannot stress enough how shocked I am at how I was treated today.

Terrible experience. Booked with Dr Oyama (as he is my family doctor) and when I go in to see him, it is some Indian doctor who was rude and racist. When I told him why I was here he just laughed in my face and refused to help me because he is "not my family doctor" in his words. Why the F have me drive in from the city only to see someone who refused to help me when I clearly booked in with my family doctor I didn't go to a medicentre to see anyone, I went here to specifically see Dr Oyama. Will be contacting the College of Physicians as well regarding the Indian doctor as well as this terrible clinic. Do better, you guys are here to help people. I can see why this clinic has such terrible reviews.

Front desk lady is nice. Dr Oyama was nice, professional, wait times are longer than expected but what isn’t these days. Dr Dhanani though.. laughed in my face when I presented my medical issues to them. Telling me I’m not his patient and declined services basically to me. Made me feel like a complete loser walking in there and driving 30 minutes to see him. I seen all the bad reviews prior and I said oh well I’ll check it out for myself as I need a doctor and no one is taking patients. Well the reviews don’t lie. I will be looking for a new doctor yet again because of Dr Dhanani. I would advise anyone needing a doctor drive to another province if you have to. Atleast you will be heard and not mocked and laughed at behind closed doors. I hope this helps anyone deciding on looking at this place in search of a new family doctor.

Just had a meeting with Dr Oyama and his office staff.
Found his staff very helpful and professional. Dr. Oyama was very friendly and answered all my questions.

I too wish I could give zero stars. I do not recommend Dr. Oyama or the office. They are slow, disorganized, and their policy changes without any notice. For those of you who live in Sherwood Park, you may recall him having an office in Summerwood. Without any notice ( even though they say emails were sent) the office is empty. RIDICULOUS. In my opinion, the only reason he won't refill prescriptions via fax is so he can bill for each visit. Needless to say...myself and my family are done with him.

Wish i could give less than 1 star. Was supposed to have a meet and greet with Dr Oyama at 9am thinking I finally found a family doctor. I showed up on time. After half hour of waiting the doctor was still a no show so I left. It was apparent they weren’t even around yet. Could not even show up on time. And had other people waiting to. And 0 communication.

Worst Doc I've ever had the chance to meet, if he even does show up. Countless times, you have appointment and shows up to the office 20 to 60 mins late. Do don't recommend this clinic at all or this doctor. Rather go into town to a real clinic. Very vague when you do see him and doesn't seem to care about your well being.
