The automated system is a huge step down from the old system. The machines are slow and make the process frustrating. It's unfortunate.

I usually go to Sooke for my recyclables. I had a few things to grab that Sooke didn't offer, so i came here. Maybe it's just the dude in me, but I found the conveyor belt system really fun and easy to use. Some things won't go through. Like craft beers with no bar codes on the can. And sometimes, a can with a small dent won't go through, but an absolutely mangled one will. It's very odd how it determines that. The staff was also great. They are people you can just have a conversation with. And they were laughing and talking with other coworkers. It was nice to see. Good sense of comraderie here. They are happy to help you. Twice, my machine malfunctioned, and no one got upset or annoyed with me. The converyor system took just a bit to get used to, but it's still much better than manually placing cans and bottles into small containers, separating by which one had alcohol and which one didn't. The machine does all the work for you. Just put some headphones on, blast your favorite tunes, and the time will fly by like nothing. I'm happy this one was indoors as well because the depot in sooke is outside. There is also a washroom for public use, so you can wash your hands properly. I'm from out of town, so having the washroom there was a really nice thing. I didn't have to go to McDonald's after to clean my hands and go to the bathroom. I also love the decor. A nice art piece was by the cash out machine, and there were tons and tons of cans and bottles on display, new and old, for you to look at. This bottle depot is a little further away from me, but it cut my time sorting literally in half. The same 120$ load would have taken me easily close to an hour and a half. Maybe more. And it would have been outside. It was 0 degrees outside when I got to the depot so I'm glad I didn't go to sooke. I really like this place, and check it out if you haven't!

Worst service ever. I was concerned when another patron stopped and tried to give me his recycling for free. Didn't even bother to ask for bags. My cans and recycling will never go there again and no as far as your reply it was your team 3 of them standing there very rude. I usually leave a nice yup but never again I will drive to college Hill they are more friendly and polite

This location accepts many different materials and the staff are really helpful and friendly. Lots of parking. Beware the wasps in warmer months, and stay calm if possible!

I always appreciated the 5-star service of staff there, but today it was even beyond my expectations. Today my little one was badly bitten by wasp. And the young guy employee saw him crying on the parking lot, jumped to us, offered us Afterbite wipe, and actually brought it to us and applied on him. These guys work so hard and are still always attentive and kind. Thank you!

I went with my daughter to help her ♻️ her cans and bottles. It is so very different than Alberta so I don't want to make much of a comment or comparison. The young man who received and processed the beverage containers was very pleasant.

The Island return it in Duncan is very neat and tidy and the staff is very friendly.
However, whenever I go here I always manage to get stung or bit by a wasp... Lucky for me I'm not allergic. The wasps here are bloody ridiculous. I did notice they put 2 wasp traps up, but they don't seem to be doing very much in the way of attracting and catching wasps.
