Frustration at Loblaws: Long Lines, Few Cashiers, and Rising Prices

Shopping at Loblaws on a Saturday morning has become an exercise in patience—and frustration. Despite the weekend rush, only two cashiers were open, forcing customers into painfully long lines. Meanwhile, prices keep skyrocketing, but the level of service is steadily declining.

It’s unacceptable that a major grocery chain, which continues to rake in profits, can’t staff its stores properly. Customers are paying more than ever, yet receiving less in return—fewer open cash registers, slower service, and a growing sense that Loblaws prioritizes cost-cutting over customer experience.

If this trend continues, shoppers will have no choice but to take their business elsewhere. Loblaws needs to do better!!!

So sad. Just bought it on the weekend. Opened it now and the cheese is already covered in mold…don’t buy shredded cheese here. This one is cracked barrel tex mex cheese. Really disappointing.

Large Loblaws within Bayview Village. They have everything you expect here, plus lots of hot food items for takeout. There was someone walking around hard-selling the PC MasterCard which was annoying.

A few of the staff have been particularly rude towards my service dog by assuming things (without kindly inquiring first) even though she is secured in my bag and completely quiet and non threatening/non reactive to all folks.

I’ve been a loyal customer of Loblaws Bayview Village for over three years, shopping here almost every week. I even got a PC Optimum membership and a PC Mastercard because of my frequent visits. Most of the staff are great, but unfortunately, my experience today was disappointing.

The cashier I dealt with was dismissive, ignored my questions, and handled my groceries carelessly—throwing items and placing them upside down despite my request not to. This kind of treatment ruined my shopping experience and made me reconsider my loyalty to this store. There are many other grocery stores closer to me where I might be treated better.

I hope management addresses such behavior to maintain the otherwise good reputation of this location.

I visit often, once a week at least. Their produce is always rotten and moldy, not to mention over priced as well. $10 for a bag of soggy organic mandarins? Mold in your okras (which should be in the refrigerated section, by the way). Blackberries and cherries nearly rotten. This store needs better upkeep in the produce section, esepcially at the prices they charge. What a disgrace. This location would have been better off as a Farm Boy or Whole Foods.
