This is not actually a Patagonia flagship retail store, it's an "elelments outfitters". I'm not quite sure why they can use the Patagonia logo legally, but if you go to their website, you can see they carry a couple other brands other than Patagonia.

One thing to note is that their return policy is different from that of official Patagonia - no return on sale items - only exchanges or store credit, of which you can only use in one of their 3 stores in either Calgary, Banff, or Victoria, and not at any flagship Patagonia stores or online. And this information is NOT stated on the receipt at all, and I was not informed of this policy when I purchased sale items. The inventory finder on the Patagonia website also doesn't work for this store.

I would say their selection is smaller than the average Patagonia store and the staff is less knowledgeable. You might be able to find what you're looking for on sale, but the items on sale had a very limited size selection when I was there. From my experience, it's also hit or miss on the friendliness of the staff - some are friendly some are standoffish.

They helped me find the right jacket and then patiently helped me sort out delivery challenges with Canada Post. (Canada Post does NOT get a five star review!).

The team went above and WAY beyond to help me get the jacket I wanted. I highly recommend the store.

Love a visit to Patagonia Banff, staff were friendly and happy to help me with my questions. I bought a down vest which comes with a patch kit now in case it gets a tear. Was interested to hear about the Ironclad Guarantee that Patagonia offers and that I can get it repaired in store if needed

Nice store with great staff, could do with a few bigger sizes of things but Caitlyn was very helpful and made several special orders for me.

Staff are happy to greet you but not willing to provide customer service. They present themselves as people who are more interested in doing the least amount of work by standing around talking to each other instead of helping the customers that were queuing up for help. They didn’t seem interested at all in hearing the concerns of customers to the defects of the products they were selling, but instead suggesting that a repair can be offered after 12 weeks of waiting.

Interesting that Patagonia is always marketing their iron clad guarantee on their goods but manufacturers everything in China where quality suffers from being the lowest cost producer. My clasp on my hat broke and the colour started bleeding on the garment dye after a couple of uses. Not worth the money.
