I stopped by Plato’s Closet in North York and had a pretty good experience. The store was clean, well-organized, and smelled really nice—which definitely made browsing more pleasant.

I brought in some clothes to sell, and the process was quick and efficient. Liz was the one who processed my items, and she was super kind, professional, and easy to talk to. She explained everything clearly and made the whole experience smooth. Big shoutout to her for the great service!

They didn’t take everything I brought in, but I was able to sell a few pieces and got cash right away. The whole thing didn’t take long at all, which I appreciated.

The store has a solid selection of trendy, gently used clothes. Prices aren’t thrift-store cheap, but they’re still reasonable—especially for popular brands.

Overall, I’d come back again, whether to shop or sell. The service was fast, the store vibe was nice, and Liz really made the experience feel welcoming.👍

by far the worst location. all employees are rude, have so much attitude even if you smile at them. i went in on august 5, 2025 and had 3 full big bags of clothes with more than 15 pieces of good conditioned clothes in each. they only took 11 things out of all the bags for $50 (btw they only took the clothes that are from aritiza and lululemon), but they didn’t even go through the bags completely (the threw the clothes they wanted at the top, and they never touched the pants i folded nicely on the bottom). one of the workers (one of the white ladies on cash), she said out loud to the lady who was cashing me out “$15 for a sweater is crazy”. just never go to this location.

I walked into Plato’s Closet and was immediately hit with a smell that was way too strong — like a mix of perfume, musty clothes, and something weird that honestly made me feel a little sick. It was overwhelming. On top of that, everything was way overpriced for secondhand stuff. I saw worn-out items being sold for nearly the same price as brand new. And to make it worse, the staff were rude and acted like they didn’t want to be there. Definitely not worth it — I won’t be going back.

I've sold at many of their locations in the GTA and this on is by far the worst one, they need new staff immediately, The staff at this location are terrible they are rude and can't even look at you while having a conversation. The staff will also whisper and talk while staring at you no matter if you are shopping or selling. One lady working there Jess is worst of them all, she is extremely rude and has an attitude no matter what you say to her, she never greets customers with a smile or a hello just attitude. They are selling items from SHEIN and other cheap brands for 3x the original price they were selling a high school football ball jersey for $14. When bringing in items they will either not even look at what you bring or give you a terrible price for what they would like to buy. I brought in a $450 coach bag with a matching card holder and they offered me $18. If they look through your items they do not put any items back nicely nothing is folded just shoved back in the bag.

I dropped off a bag of clothes on 27th January 2025 containing 23 items, out of which the store selected 3 items for purchase. When I returned to collect the rest, I was informed that my bag was missing. I later received a call from the store confirming that it had been mistakenly handed over to another customer.

It has now been over a week, and I still have no resolution. The store has made no effort to retrieve my belongings or offer an alternative solution. Despite multiple follow-ups - including an email and several phone calls - I was finally able to speak with a manager this week. I was informed that they could not make a decision at the store level and that only the store owner could respond, I’ve been asked to wait to receive a response to my email with no solid timeline. This lack of accountability and communication has been extremely disappointing.

** - ** Update ** - **
After weeks of silence, I received an offer of $25 as compensation for the loss of my full bag of missing items (20 items, some new with tags) - which is completely inadequate (I had simply asked to be compensated in line with what the store would pay to buy the items). When I visited the store to follow up, I was immediately sent an email accusing me of “creating a scene” and threatening to call the police, which was both inaccurate and incredibly unprofessional.

This store has shown a complete lack of accountability, communication, and basic customer service throughout this entire process. My property was lost while under their responsibility, and they have failed to offer a fair or reasonable resolution. Avoid this place at all costs!

They all have an attitude apart from the one white lady- I didn’t get her name. Saw them greet other customers when coming in to shop, though when we came in with clothing to sell they didn’t even look at us with a smile on their face. Slid over our bags at us without even looking at us after denying majority of our stuff saying it’s “out of season” even though they accepted a pair of track pants (probably bc it was name brand)
We looked around to shop and there’s name brand clothing- sure, but they’re all beat up and dirty. Name brand isn’t everything people just want good quality used clothing for a decent price. Also- If the managers or owners are reading this please teach your workers good customer service and how to put clothes back in their correct size categories! Do better!

Pretty disappointed in the standards of clothing being accepted. They always say they only take modern, name brand, and things in the current season! I brought in very expensive hardly worn name brand summer and spring clothing. All they took was a pair of winter, no name brand Walmart, fuzzy leggings for $2. Not the $70 Guess or lulu clothing summer clothing. The originally girl who helped me out was super sweet but the girl who rang me up at the end was very rude, clearly didn’t want to be there and gave me attitude. I love Plato’s closet but this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had at one Between locations in Ottawa and Toronto.

They DONT go through your stuff! I brought in a bag of new Aritzia and Garage clothes, and the workers said they weren’t taking them because they have too much of the brands? but the clothes in my bag were still folded in-order, and untouched! Workers were RUDE and lazy, didn’t greet anyone, and complained in front of customers about working
