I come here often and usually have a great experience, I have dropped tons of money in this store over the years. However recently, the last 2 experiences I had were disappointing. My partner and I each brought in a number of items, they took 9 from me and 6 from him. They gave me around $29 back which felt low to me, but I didn’t complain or think too much of it. But when we went back and they only gave him $30 for his, I knew something was off. He gave brand name items like Columbia, Lulu Lemon, Eddie Bauer. Like-new condition, some with tags still on. The jacket alone was worth $100. I don’t like the inconsistency of the appraisals here, it seems to really depend who is working. I have to mention that both times, for both drops, we were served by the shorter girl with dark almost black hair, and there was a guy there too. Both had poor customer service and were not friendly at all. It seems more worth it to sell your items on marketplace or take them to another Plato’s location, particularly if they are well maintained and brand name items. It’s a shame because there are a few other employees there who give great service and much better appraisals, the blonde lady is great and there was a blonde girl working today who was nice. The other two who served us were pretty miserable and honestly the service was bad enough that it turned me off from going back. Sorry, not usually one to complain but felt compelled.

Went in to sell some of my clothes and was told that all of my items were great and they would take them if I went home and gave them another wash. I did that & came back the next day and they only took 2 of my items after I was explicitly told that they would sell me ALL of my items. When I went back in they said “it all depends on who is checking my clothes at that time.” In hindsight, you are not guaranteed anything. So if the staff tell you that you need to remove excess pilling/wash the clothes & then bring them back, there is still no guarantee that they will take them. The staff need to learn how to communicate & make sure this is clear. I was lied to & I’m not impressed with this.

Was my first time going to shop here , amazing experience. Great customer service . Khushi provided me with an amazing helping hand & even taught me how to get a stain out of a shirt. She got me all signed up with a membership to earn rewards . The Oshawa location is really clean and organized. I will definitely be back . I highly recommend shopping here . Huge selection of clothes . I found 2 designer shirts and they are both authentic. What a steal ! Thanks again to Khushi for all your help!

I recently visited Plato's Closet-Oshawa, and I was thrilled with my find! I picked up this cozy oversized distressed sweater that feels both stylish and comfortable. My first experience with this chain. I called ahead and was told I could drop off my clothes and they would pay for what they wanted to resell and donate what they didn’t. Drove an hour to the store excited to see how this worked compared with selling on Facebook or some other way. The positives - store looked to be well organized, setting me up ans a client was painless and the sorting process was pretty quick (1 hour for 4 large bags). The negatives - I wasn’t told that they only take clothing for a certain demographic (20-30s) - this would have changed my decision to come all the way out here, and I wasn’t told when I called that they have no room today to take the rejected items for donation. I had to haul nearly everything back to my car and off to another donation center. 2 hours of driving plus my hour of waiting and the additional time to drop off my stuff at a Value Village. All for $20.

They have a sale, yet won't let you use your own bags. Their mesh bags are completely destroyed, too small, dirty and clothes keep falling out. Yet when I explained this to the employee, she just says "no bags". Cool, won't shop here then! I put everything back and left . Drove to another Plato's Closet and they had no problem with my bag. Spent $300.

Should be a system of at least providing ID, so we can use our own big XL shopping bags. Even after showing the condition of the bags, she still wanted me to use them?

they were really nice really welcoming. but don’t bring your clothes here honestly it’s just a waste of time. i brought my clothes there about 3 hours ago from when im writing this review and they said the clothes were ready to be picked up. when i went the girl called out my number and said out loud “did anyone even go through this bag?” none of the workers answered her. she then brought my bag NOTHING WAS TOUCHED. and she said my clothes had stains and pilling. half my clothes were brand new and met up to their “supposed” standards. not the best luck or experience here. do yourself a favour don’t waste ur time.
