Quite a few others have commented on this shop’s practice of selling used or defective products, and unfortunately, we had a similar experience. We attempted to return a product within their stated policy, but they falsely accused us of using it and refused a refund, even though the item was in its original condition. Their dishonest practices, including taking advantage of lay customers, raise serious concerns about them reselling used or defective products. To make matters worse, the staff was rude and unprofessional. This experience has made me wary of ever shopping here again.

We purchased a thermostat from this shop, aware of their return policy, which allows returns within a week with a 6% restocking fee. However, when we attempted to return it, they accused us of using the item and claimed the sensor wire was missing, despite the box being in the exact condition as when it was sold to us. As laypeople referred by Home Depot, we relied on their integrity. Instead, they told me that I should have checked the package in store when I bought it, accused us of using the thermostat, and refuse to even give us a refund at all. This raises serious concerns about their business practices, including the possibility of reselling used or defective products at full price. And here I was thinking that I would buy more supplies from them for our home Reno. Gives me more reason to stick with the large retailers to avoid these shady business practices.

**Update in response to the owner: we did visit you to work together a solution and left the thermostat for your checking, in which you rejected the return. I spent 15 minutes at the store pleading my case that we are lay people that don't know much about this stuff. Instead:

1. We were accused that the box was broken and the sensor wire is missing and that we will either get $25 off our potential refund or we need to pay an additional $25 to get a new one to even use the thermostat;

2. Your staff said that we should have opened the box at the store to check if everything is there. How is this our responsibility, and I don't even know what all the parts are;

4. We were accused that we used the thermostat as some of the wires were bent, when we simply just opened the box at home to have a look at what we bought. We didn't even get around to test to see if the thermostat works as the electrical wiring in our home needs to be replaced and is not an issue with our existing thermostat;

5. I asked your sales staff when he sold me the product on whether it would work for my system at home (showed him some pictures). Beyond the attitude that he didn't even want to be at work, he brushed me off and said that he is not an electrician.

Clearly there was an issue with the restocking process in your store where you sold me a used product that had issues. For all I know, the product could be a lemon, and to even test to see if it works, I need to pay another $25 dollars for a sensor wire.

Instead of coming to a solution, you've even outright rejected on providing any refund, not even a dollar, as you claim that the product has been used, after your sales said that you would check the product to see if it will work and consider.

Look I get it - your bread and butter are contractors buying in bulk and you would never screw them over. On the other hand, for people who aren't in the industry or just looking to buy an item or two, especially these electronic products - BEWARE. They'll pawn off open/defective products to you, and take advantage of your lack of technical knowhow.

Now this has been a royal waste of my time. I consider the $139.36 as a total loss. Expected this business and the Owner to have more integrity. Will stick with the big box/Amazon retailers next time.
