Went to Sobeys at Columbia in Waterloo on March 7, 2025. The service was above and beyond - kind and helpful. Connecting with helpful people in produce and someone helping me find something in the store. The check out with Cindy at the till and another friendly staff member helping pack my purchases. The new layout of the store is coming along and bright and nice but it is the people at this Sobeys that brings me back and makes it my favourite store to shop. Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and engaging. Thank you Sobeys Columbia team!

This place used to be our go-to for groceries, but the prices have increased significantly across the board in the past year or so. However, I still stop in from time-to-time, or to grab a quick lunch. The staff save this place - they're always very kind, willing to help, and welcoming. The staff at the Canada Post would get less stars from me because each time I've gone to that counter it feels like I'm the biggest inconvenience they've ever encountered in their life... but otherwise, the staff is excellent and very kind.

Came in before closing, was looked at like what are you doing coming in at 9:50pm...and then was stood in front of and told they are closing soon like I didn't already know that.
Move out my way so I can go get my bread for lunch tomorrow, last I checked doors still open.

Guess I'll be going to zehrs next time I need bread at closing.

Don’t let the new renovations fool you! Terrible food here, 2 stars for the friendly staff and cashiers who do their best.

This is the same old poor quality meat, fish and produce and overpriced items, you can find better at other stores within a 5-10min drive.

Made their pork ribs last night and the cut was terrible, about 70% fat which was mostly hidden by packaging! There was not enough meat for two people to eat from and it was so chewy, frankly off-putting. I wonder if the expiry dates were tampered with. This store’s rotisserie chickens are also not worth buying anymore.

Disappointing they are paying for renovations to make the store flashy, instead of maintaining quality products. This store used to be good years ago, but now that grocery prices have increased by 75% over the last few years, it is not worth the money or time coming here anymore.

I used to like this store - it’s usually very clean and friendly - but I was very disappointed today. I bought steak (supposed to be a decent cut) but the underside was a mess - couldn’t even cut through it. It was clearly done on purpose as the issue was hidden by packaging. I cooked it up anyway for the dogs - too far to drive it back - but please do better in the future Sobeys.

People working checkout are just miserable. One decided it was more important to start cleaning their belt than ring my items up. Not a great experience shopping there.

As I approach three employers not doing anything at Costemer Service counter to check out a few groceries one sees me coming and turns around and walks away then says that they can’t help me because there busy but after I check out at another till I pass by and there not doing any thing accept laughing and talking can’t believe there paying these people to do nothing accept piss off there costumers in fact I’m so pissed off I will share what I found in a bag of chips that I bought a few weeks ago from this location witch I also return to this location never before have seen this in a bag of chips.
