Would give 0 start if it was an option.
Long story short..
I dropped off my wedding band to resize it to a smaller size last week. A month after the wedding so the ring is still looking like new. It was a flat band with a scratched matte yellow gold finish on it. It was a pretty typical design. I bought it in the city but since we live in town we figured we would use a local business to resize it.
When I dropped it off i was assured that it wouldn’t affect the look of the ring as it is just a resize but that it would come out looking new and shiny.
A week later when I picked it up.. it wasn’t the same at all !!!
I was never made aware that there was a possibility of any changes in the look.
The scratched finish was gone , it wasn’t matte but high gloss and polished. It looked like the typical shinny wedding band and not at all what I dropped off there the week prior.( see pictures)
They told me I could were it for a few weeks and that it would scratched again.
I don’t really understand how an experience jeweller would do such a think and hope that the customer would be ok with it.
So I left the ring with them for them to rectify the situation. They assured me it was an easy fix and they could just sandblast the ring again…
I made sure to tell them that it wasn’t sandblasted and it was a scratch finish and it was matte gold. They would have know as they had the physical ring when I dropped it off for resizing.
A few hours later they told me that my ring was ready to be picked up again .
They Indeed did a finish on it to make it similar to what it used to be ( a month ago) but it is still different.
When picking it up they agreed and told us that it looked different but that they weren’t able to replicate the same finish that I had previously.
After sleeping on it , I went back the next day to ask them to find a solution as the ring that I now have is a totally different ring that I brought in for a resize. The owner , David , was extremely defensive and unprofessional and told me that there is nothing he could do and that I had to send it back to the manufacturer for them to correct their mistake and that he would not be covering the cost.
I now have a different ring that me and my wife had picked together and will have to cover the cost to have it back like the way it should be. Apparently , he already did the resizing for free… so wonder why 🙂
As a customer , I rarely complain but this is a very frustrating situation. David was totally unprofessional even after saying that they knew that there was now a different finish on my wedding band. They didn’t seem to care at all and I would highly suggest not doing business with them.

Very familiar with Canmore and Banff. Was out for a quick visit for the night. We were just meandering stores and “just looking”. We happened to see a very nice Tanzanite that a lot of the standard jewelry stores no longer carry. We’ve been looking for a necklace to go with my ring for some time. While we were just making conversation and they were providing excellent services of offering to clean my jewellery, we had no intention of making a purchase. My husband pulled a “pretty woman” moment and told David to “wrap it up” as I was making my way to the exit. Their friendliness and no pressure attitude as we were enjoying our look around made everything just so relaxing and trusting. Thank you for the wonderful experience to you and the ladies today!

Had a gorgeous ring made here. Dave and his team are always so friendly and seem happy to have our business. Lovely shop with beautiful items.

My family and I have been back many times for their beautiful wares. Dave is so great and his lovely wife and rest of the team are outstanding. We have no reason to ever shop elsewhere for anything sparkly.

What a pleasure, went in to have a watch battery replaced. Dave was genuinely interested in the watch and took good care whilst working on the watch. He set the time, and polished it until he could confirm the installation was working (no second hand arm)
If I had the opportunity to pay for the service I would have gladly. Great story about why he doesn't charge, and he has gained another satisfied customer. Thanks Dave, you made my day, and as promised I will pay it forward!
