Amazing place to shop or work. I have done both. The staff are very knowledgeable and well trained. The selection is endless, and owners, Tim Priddle and family, go above and beyond to help. They're also involved with helping the community by donating time and materials to help build and develop Ottawa. They also help the less fortunate by donating to the Ottawa mission and building in countries that are in need. If you need wood and accessories, this is the place. If you don't, stop by anyway. They will be glad to show you around.

Top quality! We purchased some pine boards and Baltic plywood for some shelves at our retail store and the quality is impeccable. You can spend hours digging through the boards at the big orange American home store and maybe find a decent one or you can pick up an order at Wood Source and know you're getting the best of the best. We also had a sign made through the CNC department, and it turned out great! Derek was a pleasure to work with and answered all my questions. Cannot recommend them enough.

Last year, I moved to Greely and became a regular customer at The WoodSource. As a weekend woodworker working on a full home renovation, I visited nearly every week, often spending hundreds of dollars on materials. Unfortunately, after my most recent visit — marked by rude and unprofessional, dramatic behaviour from a salesperson named Harry — it’s clear I won’t be returning.

A while ago, I bought a 10 ft 1x3 poplar board from their warehouse because they were out of 5 ft lengths. The board was visibly warped, but I accepted it at the time due to a lack of options and their return policy. Their return policy in place, I figured I could swap it later if it didn't get better. This week, the 5 ft boards were finally back in stock, so I returned with the intention of exchanging the warped piece for two straight 5 ft boards.

The salesperson I dealt with — Harry — immediately questioned the return in a rude and dismissive tone. He fixated on a minor dent and some rain marks, which occurred naturally during transport in wet weather (the return day was raining). These are cosmetic and easily fixable — but warped lumber isn't. As a woodworker, fixing the dents on a piece of wood as a face frame that's going to be painted is very easy. Despite this, he refused to accept the return outright and instead sent me off to the warehouse to see if they'd approve it in a very dramatic way — a complete runaround over a few dollars' worth of wood.

To make matters worse, Harry didn’t even let me select my replacement lumber. He went ahead and chose the boards himself, despite knowing that I — like any woodworker — need to inspect each board individually for straightness, grain, knots, and quality. It was completely disrespectful. Who does he think he’s dealing with that he feels entitled to pick my materials for me or treat me like that?

This is not how I was treated in the past. I’ve returned lumber here before, and the process was simple and respectful: I returned the wood to the salesperson, the credit was applied to my account, and I chose my new materials from the showroom or the warehouse— as it should be.

I decided to not return that specific piece of wood and therefore not to do business here again. I know they don't care about my business (sometimes only one specific group of people treated nicely); however this decision will help me to buy cheaper rough lumber from KJP or local nice small business wood suppliers and mill them myself.

I still appreciate the awesome young folks in the warehouse or the rest of sales team I have dealt with in the past.

This is a terrific store. Everyone is caring, attentative, and hardworking, and the products are terrific. In particular, Brian caught a mistake in the wood that I had purchased today, and directed me to the correct product for the job that I was looking to get done. It was a great display of knowlege and understanding of the craft, and saved me hours. Would Highly recommend.

Ordered multiple 5'x'5' plywood panels for delivery. The quality of the panels were great - flat, clean edges and corners, and smooth faces. Delivery was completed in a few days after the order and the driver phoned ahead. Professional service from beginning to end. Thanks WoodSource.
