This is a town that definitely has a place and a purpose, but offers little more than a convenient place to stay and shop on the grander and greater adventures that are the Banff and Jasper National Parks. If you are having problems finding a place to stay in Banff, Jasper, Saskatchewan Crossing or at one of the lodges inside the aforementioned national parks, Canmore will most likely have a room for you. It also has a greater collection of stores, shopping malls and restaurants than any of the smaller places north or west of its location. The town can be interesting if you explore its lesser known streets and if you can leave the suburban sprawl behind. Stop for a meal, a room or supplies, but make sure to explore the natural beauty of the area surrounding the town.

This beautiful former mining town is right on the edge of the Banff national park. Very close to Banff it is the perfect choice for a less commercialised holiday. Fantastic facilities, great mountain trails for both hiking and mountain biking. You also have the world renowned Nordic Centre. Situated right on the beautiful Bow River, this town will not disappoint and is the perfect alternative to Banff. Overlooked by the fabulous Three Sisters this is a special place.

For the past 30 years, it was great being able to pit stop here, and pop in for a cup
of coffee or a bite to eat and a short stroll.

Now seeing these menacing Pay Parking signs every 4 ft, is Highly Discouraging for us local Albertans. Happy New year.

I booked Rundleview Park for my wedding ceremony and the city was fantastic to work with through the whole process. This venue is extremely affordable compared to other private places nearby. It was so gorgeous for our wedding day. The staff at the city were very helpful anytime I called with the many questions I had, and even made recommendations for local vendors to work with. The rental included parking permits for adjacent streets which was great. Happy to support this town.

What an amazing experience without having to pay outrageous Banff park fees. Go see explore the many wonders of Canmore. Go for the hike by the bridge. It’s free and spectacular mountain views.

Oh wow...pay to park everywhere! You can almost not stop to use bathroom. Not coming back to town centre for a beer after hiking. I will only stop at Valbella meats.
