Just spent ten minutes there wandering around not even a hello from the staff or see if I needed help finding anything. Wanted to get some bullets and a sling for my gun but won’t spend my money here, came from out of town to check out this store as I’ve heard it’s great but unfortunate today. Ended up just walking out and still not a word from staff. Canadian tire for the win again and people wonder why customer service matters.

Responding to you it actually doesn’t take much time to react to a customer coming in. Even the first person who was dealing with another customer could’ve said a simple hello or good morning, but like I said people wonder why customer service matters and I can see that with you looking at the clocks critiquing my time in the store when I wasn’t even greeted, it doesn’t matter if I was in there for 3.25 minutes 13 minutes or 35 minutes the customer service was shit and unfortunately, I didn’t get to look at the guns or ammo because I didn’t have a single person talk to me like I said previously so I’m not sure how I am supposed to do that or if I should just help myself next time? Maybe you can clarify because usually in order to look at guns or ammo, you need to show your PAL. I hope moving forward you appreciate customers more but that’s ok. Canadian tire was much nicer and I ended up getting ammo, a gun and a sling! Also for your ego, honestly, how do you think I feel coming out of town and being a woman and being totally ignored in a hunting store so yeah I made a post about your business because I think this is bullshit. Could have had my service but I see where they get it from but thanks. Yikes.

This fishing store is fantastic! All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Aaron took his time to make sure we had exactly the right gear and shared tons of helpful tips and local knowledge about the best places to fish and where to see the salmon run. You can tell they’re very experienced and genuinely care about helping customers and maintaining the integrity of the local ecosystems. Highly recommend this shop for anyone looking for great service and expert advice!

Walked in to get some worms for fishing. Was told there’s no where around here to really use the worms because of govt regulations. As I was griping about the govt. the manager said I was aggressive and rude to him and his workers. I was talking to myself as I went to the fridge to just get some worms and go fishing way out of town.

The all the worms were dead but I was still going to grab a pack and give it a try. But he said he wouldn’t sell them to me and that I had to leave for talking rudely to them.

Not once did I raise my voice, say anything rude to any worker or to him, and I was griping under my own breath about the govt rules and fishing with a worm.

Maybe the guy was having a bad day idk. Anyway just go to the co-op gas station you can get live worms in a tub and not a plastic baggy.

And you can use worms if your fishing from the community pier

Westside Stores is hands down one of the best local sporting goods stores out there! We’ve been shopping here for years and will keep coming back because they always have what we need, and the staff are incredibly helpful.

One of the biggest things that sets them apart is their knowledge. They’re not just trying to sell you something—they actually listen to what you need and make sure you’re getting the right gear, whether it’s for hunting, fishing, or anything else outdoors. That’s huge.

As a woman who hunts and fishes, finding quality gear that actually fits can be a struggle. A lot of places just don’t carry women’s-specific gear, but Westside does. They’ve got ladies’ fishing gear, apparel, and all the essentials, which makes a big difference.

The store is always well-stocked, super organized, and easy to shop in. It’s just an all-around great spot in Salmon Arm, and I can’t recommend them enough. If you need solid gear and staff who actually know their stuff, this is the place to go.
